dc.description | Remarks : There are two famous and ancient books of medicine in Persian! 122 (1) The collection of Khawariz Shahi, its author Sayyid ismail Gurgani (born 434 1042-43, and died 5531 / 37-1136 AD) was associated with the courts of the Khawariz Shahi sultans. He wrote this book in 5504 / 11-1110 AD which contains discussions on medicine. (2) Qarabadin. its author, Muzaffar bin Muhammad Husaini Shafa'i / Safhani (Hakim Shafa'i) Dafat 76/0983-1575, wrote this book in isfahan. The author of Jami Al-Fawaid has made two parts of the present compilations. First One part is written as the Tamma of Qarabadin and the other part as the Tamma of Khorezm Shahi. The first part extends from sheet 4-B to sheet 147-B and the second part extends from sheet 147-B to the end of the book. The merit of this book is that it usually mentions medicinal compounds in Qarabadin, which is called Pharmacopia in English. Here the author has written the names of the diseases and their essential remedies as different compounds. Unique medicines are mentioned in the collection of Khwarazmshahi. The author has written in the second part how to prepare unique recipes by combining different ingredients. This book is very useful. its author Yusuf bin Muhammad bin Yusuf (died 44/5950-1543 AD) came here from Herat during the time of Babur, the Mughal ruler of india, and was employed as a physician in the courts of Babur and his supporters. His other works on the subject of medicine are in verse (see: History of Poetry and Prose in iran and in the Farsi Language by Saeed Nafisi - Volume 1 - pp. 1382 and 399) and Bizm Timur, Volume 1; Syed Sabahuddin Abdul Rahman: p: 100-101) | - |
